Gentlemen:
Are any of you aware of where I could acquire a great helm in the style of the Maciejowski Bible? They seem a little different in design than the perfectly cylindrical great helms offered by most suppliers. Also, is there a recommended supplier of accurate mid to late 13th century heater shields with historically accurate straps/handles?
Thank you in advance for your thoughts and ideas.
So, By The Sword for a good Maj barrel helm; go here for your heater:
http://www.oakheartarmory.com - I use them almost exclusively, they're the cheapest you'll find that still has quality and they can set it up however you like: lefty, righty, guige strap or not, any heraldry design and color as well as rawhide, hose or steel edging (go for rawhide, more historical look), and of course, the angle of the strapping. Generally they put a curve to their shields unless you request otherwise.
