I probably won't be there on Oct 4th (Wolf's demo event in Hagerstown), nor the 11th/12th (Days of Knights).

I’ll be there every Sunday this month. I still haven’t decided if I’ll make the first weekend in October as I’m contemplating on going to the Triangle European Martial Arts Conclave (TEMAC) which is organized and sponsored by the Knightly Order of the Fiat Lux. The second weekend I will be somewhere tropical (wherever and whenever my wife decides we are going to) to celebrate our 25th anniversary.

Congrats Sir Brian. Hopefully, I can swing down for a weekend soon to see you guys. I'll let you know. What is the new location of MDRF?? (or is it same place)??

I think we're going to try and be there either Sat, Sept. 27 or Sun., Sept. 28. 

Hope it's cooler by then   Should we make it a harness gather?

That weekend works for me. Or the one before it. I tried to convince my folks to go two days, but they are not as.... Pro for it as me.
So Id be there on a Saturday.

Here is some updated information in regards to carrying faux swords into MDRF:

As was discovered late last season by Stormdelver and confirmed to be carried over this year, they will allow our faux swords as long as you can pull it from the scabbard and show them it does not have a blade. Basically a three to four inch residual blade is acceptable, so it is essential it is able to be removed from the scabbard.

That said my old Maryland *special* scabbard is really cracked and coming apart at the edges so I will have to make another one. I’m thinking of making another scabbard core but making it solid except for the portion that the shortened blade needs to be inserted into.

Good and bad news!

That is good news because the solid core idea seems like it might help some with counter-balancing the top-heavy hilt if the belt suspension doesn't keep the sword hanging properly on it's own. Plus, we can look like we have a sword at least.

That is bad news because now I need to make a "maryland special" so I'm not swordless.

I still say we just buy them out & change the weapons policy to our liking. Just need a majority of the corporate shares.

I have a 'faire sword' that is permanently affixed to the scabbard; I'm going to try and run w/that since its a whole pkg thing (sword, scabbard, baldric) - we'll see what we'll see.  If I need to, there's another wall hanger I could destroy for this purpose.

Yeah, that's the thing. We had ours glued together for a few years, and that was fine. Then last year they pulled us aside and said we couldn't bring those anymore. Now they're OK with a detachable hilt with no blade.

Weather looks great for armor this Sunday. I think I’ll go with my harnischfechten harness for a change. Hey Sir Edward, do you want to do the same so we can borrow a couple of wasters from ‘Hollow Earth’ and give them a real impromptu demonstration?

Going to be at NYRF (Tuxedo Park) for the weekend Sat 9/20 & Sun 9/21 if anyone wants to meet up. I'll be going solo & it is the last weekend. I'll be getting a hotel nearby for Sat night if anyone wants to crash. Another person would make armoring up easier by the way.

BTW I can make plans to come down for MDRF the following weekend if things are permissible. Wife will not be attending.

I go to the Arizona Ren fest every year, last two in full harness. It starts in February, which would probly be cold where most of you live but here it's usually close to 80 degrees by February. They allow real weapons as long as steel isn't visible (ie: peace tied swords in scabbards).

My hope is that I can arrange to go to some events further East some time to meet up with some of you guys, but to coordinate work time off and family stuff will take planning ahead. I think something like DOK would be awesome but traveling across the country to camp out for several days with total strangers in living history conditions is a bit intimidating. I've done WW2 living history before and it was great though.
