He has a new sword for it, one that he bought from me. It's one of the Hanwei blunt trainers (practical hand-and-a-half). I think he still wanted to be able to use it as a practice sword. It probably wouldn't weaken it too much to put one or two small holes in the wider end of the blade.

Ah, I was thinking it would be a "sacrificial sword". He could get an "acorn nut" (http://www.mmsacc-stainless.com/assets/auto_generated_images/acorn-nut.jpg) and grind down the hex edges. It would look like the end of a rivet, but could be unscrewed from the other side. And they're about $1 for a bolt & nut, plus the few minutes to file down the hex edges. Just tossing it out there, since I'm brainstorming for my own MDRF special too. :)

Whereas I'd go in the opposite direction Sir James and thread a solid rivet! ;)

Purchased my Forever Pass today! You have to purchase them over the phone now and pick them up at the Faire...kind of defeats the purpose of saving time by going in the pass holder's gate when they use to mail the passes to you.  :-\

Oh ok.  A lifetime pass might be worth looking into for the likes of us!  lol

I usually make at least 3-4 weekends for MDRF...I mean, I would like to.  Knowing you gents will be there is all the impetus I usually need.

Well they do have 9 day passes available for $90.00 if that would work for you.  ;)

Really?  I can order that online or I need to do like you will and pick them up from the window?

I'm not sure if we'll make opening day, but Dina really wants to. If we make it out, I'll send a text when I get there, though I'll probably spend the majority of the day with her and sneak away when she wants to see shows.

I believe they are selling them over the phone and they aren't mailing them out anymore this close to opening day.  ;)

I could also purchase right there as well I'm guessing.  Sir James, I understand your situation...for me, it is our 5th anniversary so I'm not even sure I'll be allowed out!  That's more or less a no-go for Ft. Belvoir as well, which is a shame because that's just a great opportunity to teach younger folk about chivalry and knighthood.

So who's making what days? And also which are armour days? I kept getting confused last year and attempted to grill myself in duels with bare-armed scottsmen... ;)

Well I typically try and go in armor both opening days. Since I have more flexibility with my harness now and according to the weather forecast both days are turning out to be on the brutal side of hot, so I'll probably go in full harness on Saturday and 'armor-light' on Sunday. :-\
