Armour Stand

Here are the promised photographs of my armour stand.  As you can see, I’ve used black iron pipe fittings on the lower portion, PVC pipe fittings on the upper portion and a simple plywood base with feet.
The arms are simply held by rope and help the armour hang properly as well as making the attachment of gauntlets easier.
The PVC couplings at the knees are not glued.  This allows for the torso to be removed from the legs so the pants/hose can be put on.
The lower legs have a couple 90 degree bends which allow the shoe/sabaton heels to sit back and appear in-line with the rest of the leg.  I had to move the mountings to the base back a few inches after this modification as the center of gravity changed and the whole thing wanted to tip forward. :o

Check out my Knight Page at the bottom.  You can see how the arms help give some definition.  The parts can be had at any big box home store or your local hardware store.

I gotta get myself one of those. My kit is always on the ground folded up under my desk and i'm sure it would look better on a stand.

I have one question, how did you talk your lady into allowing the armor to decorate a corner of your house? No really. I love the stand, and am a bit jealous, there is no way I could do that....ok well in the basement or the attic maybe. Anyway very cool stand!

It is indeed my finished basement that is pictured.  Much of my "Medieval Man Cave" decor has been put behind glass in an old china hutch or in the shed since a squire and princess entered the picture. ;)

That's very cool! My armour just sits in plastic crates when not in use.  :o  Perhaps I should try making a stand like yours!

I wonder if it is possible to make the shoulders slightly angle downwards so that it looks more like when you are wearing it? I'm not sure how one would do this with the stock pieces at Home Depot.

i always tie them on. i have seen people that make wooden plywood arms that have wider spots for teh hands to sit on.
