Certainly cost effective. I wonder how durable it is, and how well the fit works out. If it's hidden under armor, the appearance won't matter much.

That looks very nice. My current GDFB gambeson rather makes me look like the Stay-Puft Marshmellow Man. I was hoping to find something lighter.

OMG Silvanus! You wear a GDFB gambeson with your armor?  :o
GDFB gambesons are brutally hot and too thick to wear under maille. Perhaps you can solicit the Lady Jessica to accept your commission for one of her gambesons? I would recommend Revival Clothing’s but they could also be considered too thick in the warmer months to wear with maille, besides the period of your harness predates their gambeson design by a 100 years or so.  :-\

Yeah, I got my from Jess, and it works very nicely. It's hard to find 12th/13th century gambesons out there as off-the-rack options. Most of them are 14th century or later designs.

I seldom wear it unless the temperature dips below 60.... It doesn't feel as bad as all that. But yes, it would be nice to have a lighter gambeson. I'll ask Lady Jessica. Does anyone have any photos of the finished product?

Yep, I was her first 13thc century order, I think. So she had to do some adjustments, but we finally got it working well. Pictures here:

I second Sir Brian's suggestion.

I got mine at badassgarb over here http://badassgarb.com/. It's a 13th century design and it is NOT tube shaped as it has the added gores on the bottom.  It's well crafted and fits me like a glove. Only issue is some sharp rings on riveted maille can catch on it and give you pulls. I don't have a problem with my coif or chausses at all, it's just the sleeves that get caught. It also isnt too hot at all being made of linen with cotton batting.

Heres a pic of me wearing it.

I do like the look of Ulrich's I do...I think Jess is at the top of her game though, just based on the two examples I've seen and the gushing reviews from the two knight brothers of mine who own them.  Since I'm not sure where I'll ultimately reside, I'll stick with my Icefalcon gambeson for now (which, despite its thickness, is not a trial to wear, no overheating at all- but I did sweat quite a bit as one will).

Both Jess and badassgarb do custom work though so I'd go there before I went with anyone else.  Icefalcon's stuff is off the rack so if you're a weird body type or outside of the sizes offered you'll not be happy.
