So far the trailers look cool. I might even get decked out in my armor to go. I went to see the last Narnia movie like that and Robin Hood. Got alot of strange looks and alot of compliments on my kit too.

You're a brave one, Sir Matthew...I never did it because I knew it'd just be me doing it.  But I do want to see this one...and there's another medieval flick coming out but I can't remember the name of it, but it is one I will see as well.

I want to see it too. I just get nervous when they cast mr. Cage, since he tends to act every role the same. He's always himself. :)

Ha, now that would be a cool idea-- have several of us armor up to have movie invasions. Not really convenient with everyone spread out though.

Unless....we can all agree on a date, time and location?  Oh, and movie, of course.

I like Nic Cage but you're right...on another board we were talking about actors who make the role suit them, as opposed to actors who fulfill the role.  John Wayne comes to mind for the former.  EVERY movie I've ever seen him in, he's the Duke, no one else.  He's just called something different in each flick, but we all know him as the Duke, no?

There's some actors where you really don't mind that. They just have a presence that you enjoy seeing in films. John Wayne is a great example. But Nic Cage is kinda bland, IMHO. :) I enjoy most of the films he's in, but I don't feel like he really brings anything to the role that another actor couldn't do better.

Take Gary Oldman... man, he's just amazing. Completely transforms himself for each role.

The movie looks interesting based on the previews. There's a bit of foreshadowing where he says something like "but if she is not what you say, you cannot have her". As much fun as watching in armor would be ... I'm not sure I could take ~2 hours of sitting in a plate harness. :)

Yea...he is an incredibly gifted actor...he's sold me on EVERY part he's played, even that of a dwarf in Tiptoes...just awesome.  Another guy who has the magnetism to make a role work is Clint Eastwood.  A la John Wayne, he has great presence...

As for endurance, I used to have that same problem til I changed up my workout routines...now its no problem for me to sit, stand, ambulate in my full harness (granted, it only weighs in about 50lbs including undergarments and assorted accoutrements) for hours on end w/little or no discomfort.  Of course...I've never had a full plate harness w/which to try...but am slowly working on it.  ;)

I don't know, in armor I find it easier to sit down for a long time than stand for a long time. Heh :)

See, 13th to early 14th C is where it's at. The mail flexes with you and is comfortable in a chair. :)

That's what I love about my brig, sitting or standing are equally comfortable. Every time I armored up for a movie my freind Kyle went in his armor with me. We had a great time. I'm not exactly sure where you are at Paladin, but maybe we could pick a theater half way in between and meet up to see this.

As for actors, I love John Wayne movies. He may always have been himself, but I have a hard time seeing anyone else in his role in them. The new True Grit movie looks like a train wreck waiting to happen, but I'll probably end up watching it anyway. I'm also a real big fan of Clint Eastwood, especially in the Westerns. The Outlaw Jose Wales is one of my all time favorites. I haven't liked many of Cage's movies, except for American Treasure which I thought had an interesting plotline and Gone in 60 Seconds. I think I like that more for the cars though.

Count me in for the armoured movie invasion!  ;D ;D ;D

BTW, my MercTailor plate never gives me any trouble when standing, siting, or even running. I've worn it to school, around town, and at the rennfair, and had no discomfort at all!

That would be great, now we just need to find a place with a theater between us to meet and a date/time to do it. I'm free on Sun. I believe, but I'm not sure where we could meet. I know there is a theater in the Arundel Mills Mall, which I think is pretty close to you but a littler farther drive than I'm looking to make at about an hour and twenty minutes. I don't know any other theaters between us. How far is Baltimore for you? There has to be one there and at about an hour, that is a pretty tolerable drive to do this.

How close would this theater be to you http://movies.yahoo.com/showtimes-tickets/theaters/2038-amc-security-square-8/ ? I think it is about 50 min. to an hour for me. Might be about half way. Anyone else want to jump in on this?
