Please take pictures to share!  Sounds like a lot of fun.  I'll have to pass as 2,184 miles is a long round trip just for a movie.

Ok, thanks for chiming in, Sir Wolf...I wasn't sure but I do know that I have a general dislike for that city.  Matt, what he's saying is we'll need to be armed with projectile weapons of the high impact, high velocity type.  And lots of spare bullets.  lol

I'm kidding, but only sort of...there are parts of Baltimore that are somewhat nice, but then you take a quick walk in any direction and you're in the hood.

Oh, yes, I am very aware of the situation in Baltimore. I used to make fairly regular trips to Towson on the north end of the city and into the inner harbor/fells point area of the city. I am pretty aware of what neighborhoods to avoid and the place I pointed out is not in the city, it's in a shopping area off Security Blvd. which is pretty safe, I think. Failing to be able to that, maybe we could shoot for next weekend and the Arundle Mills Mall theater, I know that should be close to you but I can't swing that drive this weekend, I don't think.

Wow. OK, I won't keep my hopes up. I still plan to see it soon, maybe this coming weekend if I can find the time.

I went and watched this Saturday.

Ok the first ten minutes will make you cringe at all the historical “liberties” they took namely:

~ Spanning several battles during the crusades in the Middle East around 1330’s to 1350’s?
~ Then compounding that by mixing Teutonic knights with Templers?
~ Finally on a more religious aspect they based much of the plot around this mystical book of Solomon which they read out of to combat the “witch” when it wasn’t anything more than a vague reference to the “Keys of Solomon” books which was two volumes and much later in the middle ages or early renaissance period. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Key_of_Solomon

After I chose not to be so nitpicky, (it is Hollywood after all) I actually enjoyed the movie and the story, giving less emphasis on the historical aspects and more of the entertainment and noble intentions they seemed to have accomplished well enough. I certainly intend to add it to the DVD library.  :)

Our group was in unanimous agreement that their gambesons looked really great!

Well you should've known better than to go in looking for indiscrepancies, Sir Brian!
I'm wanting to see it just out of a kill-an -afternoon sort of thing.....

I think you will always be disappointed if you look to Hollywood to be faithful to historicity...it just doesn't sell to the masses.  We have an innate interest in that sort of thing because it calls to us from our blood...but the average Joe isn't going to the movies for a history lesson, so why should we?

I think I'm going to enjoy this for what it is...but I'll probably wait for it to come out on DVD...I mean, that's why we bought the screens, you know?  I'm not a fan of movie theaters in general, unless it is with a group of friends.

I've been told that I will probably like it, so long as I can forget the historical inaccuracies and just enjoy it as entertainment. A freind of mine who saw it this weekend said picture Pirates of the Carribean crossed with Supernatural and set in the Crusading Era. All stuff I like.

I'll have to agree with Sir William, I'd like to see it just for it's entertainment value. Some of the make-up and effects look awesome!

Ah, I hadn't noticed. I may run out and grab it, or rent it, not sure which yet.

I ordered it OnDemand...my wife and I actually enjoyed it- again, leaving the historical inaccuracies aside (AFAIK, there were no Templars after 1307, right?) it was entertaining...Cage was his usual deadpan self; I thought Ron Perlman was suitably roguish a la Titus Pullo in Rome and the action sequences were good enough.  By that I mean I do not recall any 90 degree cross parries you usually find in Hollywood, it wasn't as flashy as it could've been and that sort of fitted in with the overall feel of the movie.

At times it seemed disjointed, almost as if certain elements weren't as developed as they were meant to be...this is the second medieval witch-themed movie...Black Death starring Sean Bean also approached the Plague in medieval England (although in BD, the time frame was more accurate, as was the costume, weapons and set designs).

This was a good summer popcorn type of movie; Black Death was a better movie overall.  My two bits, such as they are.
