I've made that same mistake. Castles change hands so frequently it really is a challenge to keep track of who's in charge. ;)
I've heard it was worse 600 years ago on the french marches. :D

Gotta wonder how many noble family reunions were completely ruined when the manor it's being hosted in was laid to siege, surrendered to the enemy, or were hit by a random chevauchee......
