Start of my late 15th cent Man-at-arms kit
« on: 2010-12-17, 00:00:04 »
Hello everybody, I'd like to introduce the start of my late 15th century man-at-arms kit.
Arms, and a tabard will be added soon. Already posses cuirass and sallet.                     And everyone knows you need to hold a weapon when in period attire.

Thank you for the kind words, Sir Brian.  :)
And Sir Wolf, as far as the soft kit is coming, I still need
Undershirt, braies, normal doublet, and some kind of coat to go over it. Also a nice hat would be in order....
And when I finally get everything together, I'll make sure to bug the proud soldiers of Lord Grey's retinue  ;)
(BTW, also need rondel dagger for that softkit)

You know where to go for that, A&A or Todds Stuff. Leo has been making some scary amazing things lately. I'm into original pieces but if I ever picked up and repoduction a&A's GBS and one of Leos rondels would be it.

Thank you Bill, I hope that I can keep up the good progress  :)
And I think that the dagger might be one of the last pieces  to go w/ my kit.
(But I won't consider it finished until I get one  ;) )
I will probably pick it up right after I finish the hard kit, but before I delve into the incredibly expensive world of the civilian 15th cent... :-\

I'll echo this statement. I thought you looked familiar when I saw the pics on myArmoury ... now I know why. Congrats on the new acquisitions. :)

Look at Sykes Sutler for Coats. I know they make some really nice 16th/17th century soldiers coats but I'm not sure if they make earlier periods.

can you sew? coats aren't that hard to make as are livery vests. doublets are a little more dubious but can be done. historic enterprises or medieval designs would prob be your best bet for off the rack stuff.

James, Thank you, and yes, I promptly spammed every armour related website I belong to with pictures of my new toys  :D

Thank you for the reference, I'll give them a look.

Red Knight, Ha, It's just an illusion. I've got SLBS (super limited budget syndrome) so I just decided to really bury one 25 year period to death. You should see my ambitious scheming and (family) political maneuvering to maximize my armour profits!  ;D

Look for another big picture spamming after christmas  ;)

sir Wolf, regretfully, I lack any capacity for sewing.  :( and HE is where I got my hosen. I'll give medieval designs a look too.

Sweet. Got insiders!
Were acting like a true suspicious order, already we are infiltrating various organizations (even if less for world domination than education of the general public, still evil sounding  8))
Alright, before I start on the civvy kit, I'll make sure to bug you about passing inspection. Thanks for the help!  :)
