Wish I knew a US distributor for it. I love the red velvet on it makes it look nice.

hey cool. you could do that with yours. just grind the rivets out, spray glue the velvet on and then re-rivet it back together. i would talk to Hal at Therion or the guys at kult of athena and see if they can order it special

I see it says discontinued so it may not be around that long. I could only find European distributors on a google search. Hal's probably the best way to go as mentioned above. This actually looks pretty nice in the pics. Could turn out to be spiff.

Gorgeous. I wonder how hard it is to keep clean?

Velvet seems to be an animal hair magnet, so that question probably depends on the environment it will be kept in.

it would be ruff though. if the helmet rusted and you had to clean it you would mess up the cotton velvet.

That would be a suckfest. I think GDFB does the same thing MRL does which is a coat of varnish or laquer so you might be able to control spot rusting with a Dremel with wire wheel if you're carefull. More sidespread rusting from multiple chips in the hard finish would be a pain. VERY few original fabric covers survive and there are a few surviving examples that show multiple recoverings ( usually multiple different sets of rivet holes being the tell ) and theres probably a reason for that.

Still can't find any US distributors for it, and the place does not ship to the USA. Any other options?

Know anyone in, say, Canada who would be willing to take shipment and then send it on to you?

The only english speaking countries it ships to is the UK and Ireland, I got friends from the UK but I'd have to ask them prehaps. For all this money I probably could get a different one for a similar price, just dunno where.
They sell the same model without the velvet at Therion Arms here http://therionarms.com/reenact/therionarms_c1088.html
Maybe I'll just buy that one and paint it the colors I want.

ya thats what i would do. paint the sections or take it apart and do whatever with it hehehe(that is if it isn't internally welded)

What Wolf said. If its not internally welded, removing the rivets isn't that bad ( Dremel with fiber cut off wheel in a pinch, angle grinder better from the inside, mark your four quarter plates so that they go back in the section they came out of and glue fabric to each ( you can use and awle to creat each of the corresponding holes needed for reinstalation after the fabric is on ) and then rerivet thet quarter panels into place. We get our rivets from McMaster-Carr, a single box would do you which runs about $6.00 plus a few for shipping. Painting is also an option and an historical to boot.

Is there a way to tell if it's riveted or welded? Maybe I should ask around on sword forums or my armory.
