KYRF

My Love and I went to the KYRF http://www.kyrenfaire.com/ for the first time this past weekend.
This is still a new fair but it is very well supported and attended for it's size. It is just a little
bit bigger than VARF in the amount of stages, vendors and pubs but they already have several
permanent structures in place. The drive wasn’t too bad at only 9 ½ hours and it was a very scenic
ride. The theme there is one of a Scottish village of Briarwood during the reign of Robert the Bruce,
a mere generation before the time of my harness, which was received appreciatively. The people are
extremely courteous and gregarious and welcomed me and my lady warmly. They even had Albannach
there! Definitely plan on visiting again next year!  ;D

Very nice! I've been curious about this one. I recently found an old friend from gradeschool through facebook who lives out there in KY now, and she mentioned that they had a faire nearby.

This past weekend I made a return visit to VARF for the afternoon, since it was closing day. The weather was very cooperative for once!

Looks like it might be a reasonably "cool" site as well, with all the
trees.....

Kat commented that she likes the table that Sir Brian is leaning on in one of the photos. VARF started out with a few of those as well! :)

It is a well shaded location for most of the faire, nearly all of the venders are in the wooded area.
The best kept secret is the Twisted Thistle Pub, which had a very large electric fan setup and was
an absolute godsend for me in the afternoon. Although it was in the mid-eighties that day the humidity
level had risen substantially by the afternoon. Yet will all those woods one must contend with the bugs!
So a word to the wise is to bring ye ole deep woods off!  ;)
