My Introduction/Beginnings
« on: 2015-06-25, 00:15:51 »
Its about time I do this so here it is

Hello fellow knights
My name is Samuel or preferably Sam
I do reenactments and LARP. I am an 14-15th century European arms/armor enthusiast but don't get me wrong the other areas/times are cool too.
I think but am not sure that I am the youngest one on this forum at age 14 soon to be 15

My kits aren't the best you will see because of my lack of money at most times however as long as I have something I can get hit in I don't mind.

My beginnings are quite odd I will include pictures below
It all started with a butted Maille hood type thing that I was given as a Christmas present then I kept adding until I had a mantle
Then started the obsession (I tried making a COP when I had little to no historical knowledge and I ended up taping 31 gauge steel bands to a biker jacket with no arms then I riveted half of them on and gave up

After that catastrophe I went to fantasy non custom stuff from online stores BIG MISTAKE (due to my large body for a 14 year old non of this fit me at all)

I went on to my current weird kit which is a 18g COP with plate arms/shoulders and a sallet and bevor, I have no idea why I thought that would be a good idea.

And now on to today I now am switching out my cop for an breastplate with faulds by the Merctailor and my helm and bevor have been switched for a round face more modern looking bascinet which I have yet to put foam in to protect my precious melon of a head.

The reason I don't mind the historical inaccuracy is because my group Talbot companye is about reenacting historical fighting at ren fairs for the general public and such they rather show people how the fighting is done than how exact their armor is and as long as you look the part its fine

Certainty of death. Small chance of success. What are we waiting for?

Yes welcome! My brother and I were the youngest here before you came along, and weren't much different from you. I actually admire your current, for starting out, it looks pretty nice. Starting your journey now at such a young age allows you to take your time to build up your kit. Everyone here will do their part to make sure you build up the kit that suits you best.

Welcome!

And remember that you will grow even into your 20's (I grew 3 inches from 20-25).

Hail and welcome to the forum! It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I am sure you will enjoy your time here.
