Very interesting take on the Crusades. Hard to argue his conclusions with speculation. I enjoyed it. Seems to stand true if you look at it that way. America itself was a Crusade.

Depends on what the ultimate goal was...if it was just the capture of Jerusalem, then the First was the only one that was successful.

This is a great article /commentary on the true nature of the crusades I first read it years ago and it is one of the best and I believe accurate accounts of the real crusades.

As an aside can you image how different the world would be if the crusaders had been able to retake say Egypt and hold it for Christendom ?
