Didn't see this post until after, or I would have brought it. The liner is riveted in, so I can't remove it, but I can loosen it all the way and take a couple pictures.

I just got home 10 minutes ago, haven't been home since helping Sir Edward move. Plus, I'll totally do it now, since I've met you and I can confirm you're not one of Sir Edward's alter egos, as I saw you and him at the same time. Of course, my noggin probably isn't exactly the same as yours, so you should come to VARF rehearsals next weekend and try it on yourself. ;)

Sir Wolf,
My GDFB cervellier is very light and works well over arming coif and maile coif, I have not got a great helm big enough to fit over it yet but would like to get a well made Pembridge helm. We also use the secret under chaperone hats etc etc.
Sir James, I too have considered having a steel plate rivited to my scull under my scalp, but as I don't have enough hair, I feel the rivets may show and loot rather unsightly.... What would you suggest??

Highly recommend a Pembridge style Great helm Lord de Rodes. It's all I wear most of the time. :) :)

A mantle and torse should cover the rivets nicely.

look at the Osprey English Knight book. 1300-1400 you see a "secret helmet" with lil shield looking pieces riveted around the edge on a 1330s helmet. you even see it in the later one as well. i think there is also one like it under the black prince helmet? its a thought as to what i was thinking if i had a secret gdfb helm
