"It wasn't the reward that mattered or the recognition you might harvest. It was your depth of commitment, your quality of service, the product of your devotion -- these were the things that counted in a life. When you gave purely, the honor came in the giving, and that was honor enough."

I got a good look at Nathan's hauberk; you don't see them unless you're up close...less observant folks may not even mark the difference.  We're knights, who cares anyway?  ;)

So THAT'S why putting on the spurs took so long!  ;)

New addition to my kit, just gotta find out how to blacken it. It doesnt quite fit under my kettle helm so I think I may have to get a new helmet, maybe i'll just get a great helm but I cant see a damn thing out of them.

Congratulations, Sir Ulrich. I've no idea how to blacken it, I've been trying to figure out how to un-blacken mine without a squire.... :(

Yeah, only thing i'm gonna do is add some leather ties to it maybe cut the aventail to be square and add a few rows of rings to the bottom so the necks a bit more closed. That is after I blacken it, cause the rings i currently have are Icefalcon ones plus the tool. Gotta work on my maille making skills I aint used to making riveted maille so I end up screwing up the weave  :-\

I was trying to find a topic about kits, and I guess this is the closest. First I have a FULL set of armor...which I collected over a period of time. I have never worn it, and wouldn't do so to a Ren Fr...it would be too hot. I also have assorted other items, breast plates, shoulder armor, arm bracers not included in my full set. But again, I don't intend to wear much armor at a Ren Fr....it would be too hot...and hey, I'm 66, and have a pacemaker...all I need is to get overheated and have a heart attack! But I just wanted to let you know I have several kits to say the least.

Feel free to start your own thread if you'd like to show off some of your armor. We're always happy to see pictures if you've got them! :)

Nice acquisition Sir Ulrich!  Concerning Great Helms, got to be careful.  Find one that fits and one that has good visibility in regards to the eye slits.  Be careful.

Well, when i eventually get knighted, here's my vigil/knighting kit according to what they wore back then. I thought I had a poc of my full set of armor, but I can't find it on my hard drive...must be on a CD. I did find one of the top part of that armor. Next week I'll have to take some pics of my stuff...I have some awesome looking swords.

Very nice Sir John!  Very nice, I like both the  vigil outfit and the armor from the picture.  Take your time, and I can see that your knighting will be awesome.  I can see mine to be not far (in the future) and hopefully awesome as yours.  ;)
