Medieval Dagger
« on: 2008-06-10, 18:59:53 »

After talking about daggers in the other thread, I finally got off my butt and ordered this:

I ordered the sheath with it too.

Dang sales! They keep tempting me with all sorts of shiny goodies. :)

Well, you only pay the shipping on the sheath if you buy it by itself. And if you go with Fedex or UPS, it's not a surprising number these days I don't think... heh :)

Awesome! I was toying with purchasing one with a bare wood grip today, but talked myself out of it. That isn't to say I won't buy another dagger. But I did make a purchase... I'll make my own thread on that one.

Well, it's been shipped. That didn't take long. Hopefully Fedex will move swiftly!

Sweet! I guess its too bad we just wrapped up the dagger fencing sessions in class, but nonetheless you should still bring it in to class next week if you have it in time!

It's here! I'll bring it to class, but in the meantime, here's a photo:

It looks lovely, Ed.  Don't forget to bring it tonight.

It's really light too. The balance point is right where the grip meets the guard, so it sort of floats on your index finger. I had a hard time putting it down last night. :)

Ed brought the dagger into class. Wow, that's a sweet little thing! I'm serious, I was not expecting it to be quite as nice as it was. Its incredibly light, and almost floats in the hand. I want it! :)

Yep, definitely high on my wish list now.  Not that I like dagger or anything... ;)

Yeah, I just love this thing, and almost wish I had gotten it sooner! It feels very light due to the balancing, but I also just weighed it to get a hard number. It's 0.24 kg, which is 0.528 lbs. So just barely under 8.5 ounces. But it feels like it's half that.
