It is what, a 3 hour drive for most of us?  I can do that on a Saturday or Sunday morning...think I'd rather do a Saturday, just so I can rest up on Sunday because I know I'll need it.  lol

I will have more details after Saturday this week as I have a cast meeting. They are aware of our group and have been very receptive to us, the organizer is a Ren Fair performer (Dandy Pirates) you may know of whom I refer as they have played in the VA Faire, in fact they may be this year I am not sure yet.

Very cool, I'd just asked about this in another thread.  Apparently I was mistaken on the dates...it isn't until June, right?

My first cast rehersal and it was scary and a bit disappointing, the directors have not decided how to use me yet as my armor is far more advanced than anything they have, the actors playing knights there may only be in surcoats. I am waiting to hear back but I may be the personal guard of the Earl.

So this fair is the first two weekends of June, it will be small, so like VA, but has a great cast and is dedicating much of their time to street performance- interacting with the crowd. No formal weapons policy yet...so still waiting to see if they create any but last year they really didnt have one- one down side- no beer or wine (or at least that I am aware of).

I think I could go to this, if anyone wants to  go with me I'd actually enjoy that.

Small is fine, as long as you have a strong cast performance. And it will build a reputation for that VARF is known for having a strong street cast and good character interaction. So it sounds like the faire is on the right track.

The beer/wine thing can be a limitation, since alcohol is always a huge draw. But there are other dry faires out there too, I think.

Sounds like it's coming along. :)

What other dry fairs?  Please post so I know to avoid, or, if we're all making an appearance, I can bring my own costrel full of wine.  Not that vinegar his majesty serves either...the good red Burgundian!  lol

Stormdelver, let us know as soon as you do about the weapons policy, it'll make a difference I'm sure.  First-time rehearsals almost never go well, especially with a diverse group of individuals who may not have ever worked together before.  I think it'll be fine...too bad they won't let you ride around on horseback, eh?  That'd do just fine for me.  lol

This is looking good, since I am in the state (only north east of the actual faire)  I might be able to stop by there and maybe catch you good knights!  (although I won't be in full harness though sadly)

Sadly, I don't know. :) I just seem to recall running across it before in browsing the websites.

Ah, that's a shame...I would avoid a dry faire like the plague.  I could be persuaded, however.  ;)  You know, if we were all going to make an appearance.

Truly I enjoy imbibing as much as the next knight, yet in high heat index and armor circumstance I typically avoid alcohol since it only hastens dehydration.  ;)

Well, that's not hardly authentic, is it Sir Brian?  We're supposed to be wining and wenching while on campaign...yet you would abstain?  Methinks you took the Cross, perhaps unknowingly?  ;)

Well regrettably I will not be able to make this event! Starting the 12th I've been compelled by the busy workload at my job to commence working a crew on Sundays for the next several weeks. I typically do not have to be there every Sunday but I need to be present for the first couple. My apologizes for not being able to attend this event!  :(

Is anyone coming on the 4th and 5th? I am not sure if I'm going to be able to make it, but I'll see about it.
