Fun with photoshop

OK, I tried making a poster sort of image:

Here's the original:

Notice I had to take out the tents, a tent shadow right next to me, add in the castle, etc. I also desaturated colors, added a glow around the white parts of me, etc.

I should add that parts of this were a royal pain, but I went overboard and could do less effort if I had the actual goal in mind. :) I completely isolated "me" from the rest of the background, slowly, by hand, since the background was noisy enough to make some of the other tools less practical. Ugh.

We need to do a bunch of photography in front of a green screen.

Promotional posters!  Put them up around town. :)

Heh, I made the mistake of saving the final PSD in the reduced resolution. I have a slightly earlier copy that I could maybe put into a printed poster if I re-do the white glow. I might have to check cafepress and see what resolution they need for small posters.

I just realized that if I want to put this up on cafepress or anything like that, I need royalty-free images instead of stuff I grabbed from google. There are many stock-photo sites out there where you pay a few bucks to download a high-quality image, then its use is royalty free. So I swapped out the castle for one I can use legally this way:

OK, cafepress trial premium storefront is up, though I haven't customized the look yet. This poster is the only thing in there right now, and I've placed a test order.

BTW, if you guys have some high resolution pictures that turned out really well, that are single portraits, let me know. I'd like to take a look and see what I can do with them. I think it would be cool to have a bunch of nice promotional posters or something. The key thing is that the picture need to be good quality, and not have too much other stuff in the shot that gets in the way. The best photos I have on hand are of myself and not you guys, usually, so I may have to rely on you all to show me what you have.

There's a good high res pic that's pretty much a portrait of me. Got the color version too but I prefer it in black and white.

That's a good resolution, but I'd need it with color so I can adjust it as needed. I haven't tried an extreme close-up, but that can work too.

BTW, I took a shot at Sir Brian:

(the full resolution copy is detailed enough to see the eyes through the visor) :)

Wow, I want in!  Which means, I'll need to armor up and have the wife take a few simple shots.  Hmm...well, this one'll do for now!
