Halloween
« on: 2010-10-27, 01:18:55 »
With Halloween fast approaching, I thought I'd take an informal poll.
Do you:
A.  Wear a costume.
B.  Armour up.
C.  None of the above.

I'll be armouring up (though at this stage in my kit's evolution, I armour up only slightly better than a conscripted peasant might have). :'(

Armor, no. I costume up, but it's relatively an afterthought compared to my display. (http://halloween.necrobones.com/) :)

Ed, you really do it up- that's awesome!  Usually I don't do anything...sad isn't it?  I used to love Halloween...they don't do Halloween parties at my job, I mean...they do, but no one really dresses up they're so stuffy.

Of course, it really is just an excuse to garb up...I did that last year and came to work and my female coworkers loved it (or said so at least) and the other ones thought I was brave.  Brave?  LOL @  that

Red Knight,

Your question makes me think of an old and cheesey TV show "Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future." The 80's were a great time to be alive.

I will have a jackolantern on the porch, will not be dressing up, and if Manassas decides that Halloween is celebrated on Sunday and not Saturday I will be in church for a Reformation Day service. Go Martin Luther! I mean, Calvin is considered the father of the "reformed" churches, but Luther really got the ball rolling for the cause.

Sir Ancelyn, are you a Lutheran as well?  I was raised as one but one could say I've lapsed as a Lutheran; still spiritual, just not really in tune with any of the denominations.

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

They're all the same to me...I mean, we're all worshipping the same One; it is the ceremony that seems to differ between the Catholic and the many Protestant religions.  Still, far as I'm concerned they're all on the right track, God will sort it all out in the end.

to be honest i prob wont dress up. I'll take my oldest 2 and my cousin's 2 kids around the neighborhood and laugh etc with the grown ups. my mom always likes to stay at my house with the youngest and pass out candy and see all of the lil costumes. i grew up in  a Southern Baptist home but am now United Brethren due to lack of Baptist churches that i like here. We've never had an issue with Halloween cause we saw it for what it was, a nice family night together having fun not the deep dark super Satan secret hehehe. heck my brother is a Southern Baptist minister and he always dressed his kids up and took them to our house growing up, all be it they were always nice costumes and nothing scary hehehe. but your right though i prob wouldn't take the kids out on Sunday if they had it then. but they don't they always have it on the Saturday instead cause there are a lot of people that feel that way I think.

Man that is SUPER cool...not enough people do it like that anymore.  I remember as a kid, almost every house on the block had somethin goin on.  Of course, back then, everyone knew their neighbors...now its almost like we live in a semi-transient culture.  People comin and goin all the time.

Totally dig that ghost in the window.  Is that a projection, or is it real (as in solid matter, not a spectral visitor from beyond the grave)?

Ed- I was just up the street (literally) monday and don't remember seeing anything out yet. You got it done quickly, and it looks great.

Red Knight - If our semi-adopted kids dress up for halloween, I may wear my samurai armor since it's something silly like 50 gauge steel and barely heavier than cloth. I still have some pointing and altering to do on my arming coat before I can wear my harness, but it will be done for next year.
