He's right, it technically needs to lace shut. It's rare you see someone go to this level of effort to get it right though.

so I finally got a pair of the GDFB mittens. I attached them to my hauberk and wasn't really happy with the oven mitt look. so i took the mail of the right mitten and cut it down a little. then i sewed it back up. does look too bad. it does pull on the hand when you try to hold a sword. i think this is because off the location of the thumb. it needs to be down from the side sorta inset in the palm. but it was worth the money and time to do it this way for now.
here are the mittens. the left side is original while the right one is sudo finished. not bad for less than 2 hours of work i think.

Gonna have to make my own once my new mail hauberk arrives. I will just buy some loose rivets and make my own mittens that will fit my hands. Just unsure of attaching them to the hauberk, I may not considering I WILL need my hands to tie on the rest of my outfit. But then again I want it to be a "full piece" that looks complete.

I have yet to find a pair that'll fit my current hauberk of riveted stainless. I like the look of these, though.

Ah, good idea, just need the loose rings and leather and BOOM, i'm gonna make my mittens attached to the hauberk as well. Know where to get rings for the mail but I don't know what to rivet rings with...
