see here what you guys missed. it's just of Lord Grey's Retinue since it's for the website. there was some bad news, the bad wind knocked over a lantern against the Vietnam tent and they lost everything but 3 rifles. no one was hurt thank goodness but all that period stuff is lost. 1000s and 100s of bucks worth i'm sure.

Wait, this took place at Marietta Mansion in MD?  That's like right around the corner from me and I've never heard of this!  I would've been there...unless of course its by invitation only in which case I'd still be in the same boat I am now...as in, wasn't there.  Sorry to hear about that loss...that's horrible; but it definitely happened back then so if anything, you guys were keeping in with the period.  Small consolation, I know.

it is open to the public every year. the dates usually are like the 3rd weekend in April. I'll post more when it gets closer. all of the camps are designed for public to come in and see etc.

Just from what I gather from looking at the pics, is this strictly medieval/renaissance or does it incorporate other eras?  By the by, I'm loving the knights w/real swords girded about them, sparring with wasters!

the time line is bronze age thru 1st Persian gulf war. all the living history groups are given a space etc ahead of time so everyone knows what to do etc. then the public can come thru and go anywhere they wish etc.

When was the 1st Persian gulf war?  That sounds...modern almost.

I bet its fun to check out nonetheless...how far is Jamestown from DC?  I feel like I should know that, but I do not.

Something over 200 miles from DC. Without solid street addresses google maps is less than helpful. Jamestown is close to Williamsburg and Yorktown.

You are not old unless you can say you've watched current news footage of the Tet Offensive during Vietnam war with your family on your brand new 1968 zenith color tv.  :D
