Another bastion of Chivalry
« on: 2008-12-15, 02:02:18 »
First off, I wanted to say hello.  I discovered ModernChivalry.org while out for an evening's surf.  Does my heart good to see such a place.  I have read that you're looking for philosophical interest as well as collecting and re enacting.  Considering that it can be hard to fine places where chivalry is discussed seriously, I wanted to share my own home away from home: www.chivalrynow.net  We take such discussion seriously, but are another smallish group.  We're always looking for new perspectives and would welcome anyone that decided to pop in.  I will also be taking a link to ModernChivalry.org back with me, so maybe we can start some cross talk.

Good to meet you all and let the discussion begin

I went ahead and read that one too. Nice short essay on the subject. You're right, the terminology does conjure some interesting images-- a thought I had was greeting dinner guests at the door with a two-handed axe, demanding that they accept your hospitality and enjoy their stay, or else... :)

I'll have to take some time to read some more.

Haha, yes. :)

I just read the article entitled "What If Chivalry Never Happened?" and found it very interesting. It's a good thought exercise, and brings up some good points. I'll definitely have to keep reading the articles on the site.

Just wanted to point out the Introduction that I found on the website. It's a great view into the purpose behind Chivalry-Now:  http://www.chivalrynow.net/articles/speeches/jan5_07.htm
