padded liner for a bassinet
« on: 2013-06-13, 20:52:56 »
i am thinking of getting a bassinet and adding a mail aventail to it. but i wanna make a liner that will have the padding come out of it and continue to the edge of the mail. well hmm like Sir Ian's. Is there a pattern out there that i'm missing or is it guess work?

Sir Wolf,

this is going to sound really weird but trust me it works.  Check out Altiar's hood for an Assassin's Creed costume. http://www.assassinscostume.com/altair/hood/  Take that pattern and adjust it for the lining of your hood and the cowl part for how far you wish the cowl to go.  But the basic pattern is there and works.

I made a padded hood because I have a really bad left collar bone.  Having over 3/4" of padding from the aketon, gamebson and hood's cowl is worth the extra heat for that shoulder.

Let me know if you need some help, and here's praying at some point I can get some photos finally  ;D

Don't get that bascinet.  It's the worst one GDFB offers, and it will get you stabbed in the eyes.  It doesn't have protruding eye slits like a real bascinet, so things can easily get in.  It's shaped really poorly too.

My liner is sewn in to the bascinet, and the padded aventail portion is a separate piece entirely.  I just whip-stitched the aventail padding to the liner to attach the two, but it's easily removable.

You could always get a standard liner and then add something like this:

What Ian said. That helmet, not so good. The visor doesn't even lift fully. I have one, and while at $70 it's not overly expensive ... I'm not even sure it's worth the $70...
