Portable weapon racks.
« on: 2012-10-08, 14:43:45 »

I haven't painted these yet, but I have two 8-weapon racks standing now. They come apart with simple peg construction. I was worried that they'd be too wobbly without something to keep them from doing the parallelogram thing, but they're not too bad. They do shift a little, but they can be braced against each other too (I made the boards at different heights).

The holes are varying sizes to accommodate different sized weapons. 6 holes on each rack are lengthened to allow sword blades.

Awesome!  If you can't fill it, I've got a hammer and a couple swords to throw in it, no pole arms sadly :)

Yep, shouldn't be a problem. Especially since I'll probably be wearing one of my swords, and others can be hung from the vertical supports if they have a scabbard with suspension. I think we can handle 8 to 10 more weapons from our group, including yours.

might i suggest 1 thing. put a lil hole in the front of one bottom horizontal piece and the rear of the opposite piece. then you can use a tent stake to firmly attach it to the ground. i would be afraid of uneven ground or a hard wind or a wayward child that the rack would come down on someone or some tent.

That's a fantastic idea - I would even bet on adults over a wayward child. Somebody said an adult asked if the fire was real, they said no, and the *adult* tried to walk into it! I'm a little scared.

Yes, all we need is a stupid patron winding up impaled with swords, spears, and axes to test if they're made of cardboard.  Although if that wasn't so dangerous, it would be kinda funny... maybe... ;)

Actually right now my plan is to throw some ropes over the top and use some tent stakes on those. But this would work too.

Yup. My own blood, sweat, and tears. :)  Actually they weren't hard, just time-consuming.
