Getting rid of a bunch of swords
« on: 2012-03-30, 17:24:01 »
I'm probably going to put these up on ebay tomorrow (except the flamberge since I have no idea how to ship it). But if any of you want to snag any before then, just let me know. I'll let them go for relatively cheap (except maybe the Cold Steel one). We can discuss price if there's anything you're interested in. I've made all of the below clickable to information about each on my website (measurements and the like).

I'm thinking in the ballpark of $40 for the two brass-hilted ones. Maybe in the $60 range for most of the CAS stuff.

65" brass-hilted flamberge

Brass-hilted claymore

CAS/Hanwei Bastard sword

CAS-Iberia hand-and-a-half

CAS-iIberia Lionheart

Knight's Edge (Stage Steel) Double-Handed Broadswords

Starfire single-hand sword

Cold Steel hand-and-a-half

LaForge short-sword

I just realized this could be a huge turning point in my collection. We used to joke about the "age rule", in which the number of swords in the collection should not fall below your age. :)

Well... If I sell these, I'll be breaking that rule for the first time since about 1999, when we first came up with it.

I shipped my claymore to you in a flat screen TV box I grabbed at a recycling drop off in the neighborhood. Had to cut it down a bit, but no big deal.

The flamberge is definitely not functional. It's really more of an SLO. The claymore is more functional, but it's not a very high quality piece in that regard. I think I paid $80 when it was new. :)

Now that I actually do combat... I wouldn't consider any of those safe for our purposes.

Awesome. I'm not sure what the shipping charges will be like on those two. I'll look and see if I have boxes that fit them.

Well, guess what? I listed some of these on ebay today, and the Cold Steel sword sold already. Woohoo! That was the one I put a higher price on, since it's still mostly like new.

uhh i might actually be interested in the flamberg just for looks or claymore actually

BTW, I'm assuming you're under 18? I guess to be legitimate, I should ask if your folks are all OK with that? :) Let me know if you're seriously interested. I'll try to figure something out with boxes. I've saved a bunch of sword boxes, but they don't fit in any of them.

If shipping is unreasonable or difficult, I'd be in for the flamberge. I actually might have some boxes here that would fit the sword, I'll check the shed tomorrow.

Either way, I'm in for the CAS Bastard Sword.

OK, we can look and see if anything fits the flamberge. I can show it to you.

I put the antiqued Bastard up on ebay. If you want, I can take it down, as it doesn't have any bids yet:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/290692406674   (I set the starting bid at $80).
