Try the Ring Lord for brass links.

They have brass links, but only butted. :(

Nice, I like the great helm, it's the classical crusader design you'd see in the late 13th century.

Cool, that's exactly what I was going for.

I do believe it is the same helm Sirs Edward and Brian use for their dress kits, with the torse and mount on top of the helm.  I forget what you call that.

Oh, hmm, might be. The other part with the torse is the "mantle". I'm not sure if I'll do one of those or not.

You can't get my exact helm anymore, as it was from Valentine Armory's clearance when they closed up shop in Canada.

True. Sir Edward’s helm is much nicer! Mine is just a cheap India/Pakistan knock off. ;)

@ Sir James:
Why not go for the whole crest, mantle and torse? You don’t have to keep it on all the time and it is definitely a crowd pleaser! :)

Mantle, that's it...couldn't remember it for the life of me at that point in time.  One of those is in the future for me as well...some day.  :)

If I get some other long-standing projects finished up, it's a possibility. First thing I'll need to find is a helmet-mountable lion. :)

THAT surprisingly will be a difficult search. You may have to go with a custom job. I've been keeping an eye open for a lion for Sir Wolf's crest with no real luck.  :-\

You might try searching for resin-cast bookends.  I have a set of horse head ones, and one of them took a tumble and broke off its base.  All the weight was in the base, the sculpted part was light-weight and hollow.  A little sawing, a little paint, and you could make a crest out of one.

Workable lions are very hard to come by. I ended up looking for wooden ornaments and such that would be suitable.

Those both sound like good ideas. Very good thinking "outside the box". :)

Truly, you good gentlemen having a lion for a crest may have to settle for just having a lion's head.  :-\

Sir Brian, you tempt me. I'm okay with the lion head and not the "full" lion; I just want it to match my heraldic lions. And I thought I had enough unfinished projects already. Perhaps not. :)
