A&A February Muster
« on: 2012-02-08, 20:39:58 »

Just thought I'd point out that they have a left-handed Messer Trainer currently:

http://www.armor.com/muster.html

Not sure who here is a lefty, other than Sir William. But these messer trainers are probably the best currently available. A&A really nailed the weight and feel, and it's cheaper than the Albion alternative.

How much is it, Sir Edward?  Unfortunately, A&A is one of the blocked sites here at work.  The logic behind that doesn't make sense to me but there you have it.

Left Handed Messer Trainer

A left handed version of our new #237 Messer Trainer. This particular piece was one of the first batch of our new messer. The grip slabs are sanded on the outer surface thus the grain looks a bit different than our stock version. This grip is stained black. These are the only differences from a stock piece.

Blade length: 28.1"; Grip length: 7.2"; Overall length: 36"; Nagel height: 1.9"; Guard width: 5"

Price $350 + $28 shipping and handling

Wow...loving those dimensions.  I got so excited I missed the 'messer' part and all I saw was 'sword'.  Not doing any messer work for the nonce.  Thanks for the info.

I do...but at the moment, I can't fit it into the list of things to buy...too many things!  Not enough money to go around.  *sigh*

Too bad I don't have the cash. That would be a cool gift for my mom. She's and evil left handed woman fighter.

We actually have two lefty mutants (their word, not mine) :) in our class at VAF now. One of them already has this messer (it was his order for which they made two, as A&A typically makes at least two of anything they do). The other got a different messer (the Albion, I think).

I'm trying to spread the word a little, since finding a lefty version of anything can be a pain, and this is a really good trainer for single-hand sword stuff.

Well, I am taking your previous advice and waiting to see what my instructor says...I just registered for my first class starting March 24.

I'm really excited about it...one thing I took away from our impromptu bouting at Sir James' was that I had A LOT to learn.  I thought it a great learning experience though because it provided the impetus to actually get some training in.  My wife surprised me w/prepaid classes for Christmas...talk about fortuitous, no?

A&A just added three very nice poleaxes to the Feb muster!  One of them is spiked on both ends as well.

Yeah, I've been looking that over all day today. Very tempting.

Le sigh. They're beautiful, but I've got no free money to spend. :(
