hehehe i got a request of my presence by a friend of mine for his little boy's birthday party. I have to don my full suit of plate for it. now mind you I don't think I've had it all on since my wedding, but being that I am smaller now than I was then it should fit. :) Thinking of maybe adding some point holes to the arms and the tops of the legs. hmmm maybe, maybe not. thing is, I never had a helmet for this suit. being it isn't 100% period really any would work. but it has a gorget so a bevor would not work. you think a sallet would still pull it off? or what about the GDFB barbuta? hmmm i still have the 150$ gift card for therion so I could get one of those hmmm i dunno.... think my mild gauntlets would clash with the stainless armour? think i should wear a long sword and carry a pole arm (which? poleax, bill, bec de corbin, spear)

anywho should be fun. its a knight lego party, i made a request that i get a lego knight party favor too!

When is it? I have some lego knights you could take with you. :)

As for the helmet... perhaps an armet? The barbuta isn't a bad idea either.

Good thing it's stainless, you don't have much cleanup to do after all these years!

lol, no. Shore Leave is a science-fiction convention with a heavy Star Trek slant. I go every year, and now I take the R2 with me. :)

Ooh...I've never been to a ST convention...or any convention for that matter.  Do you wear a Starfleet uniform?  I guess not...what with the R2 unit.  What do you wear?

I used to do the Starfleet uniform back when it still fit me (a long time ago). Sometimes a NASA flight suit (from Space Camp). Lately I've been pretty lazy and haven't dressed up, though last year I did the Jedi thing.

I'm going to work on my Jedi kit in the near future.  What do you think of the MRL offerings...am I better served by getting the clothing parts made elsewhere?

MRL sells them? Cool, I'll have to look. I got my Jedi outfit on ebay. It's an unlicensed one sold from China, but it looks much better than the Halloween ones you can buy here which are officially licensed. Though for the robe, I'm using the licensed one that was sold on ThinkGeek's site.

Here's a photo from Shore Leave from 2009 (the droid looks a bit better now):

In 2010 I didn't get any shots of myself in the jedi stuff with the droid. But here's what he looks like now:

Heheh, those are the most important parts! You have to take care of your feet... and be able to shoot back.

Yes, currently MRL offers the full suite for Obi-Wan and Anakin (from the second trilogy) as well as Luke.  They also offer some Imperial outfits - boots included for all of the different uniforms for both the Rebels and the Empire.

By the by Sir Edward, you look like you could double for Qui-Gonn!  Great hair, man.

LMAO @ Sir Brian - indeed!

Thanks, I actually did the Qui-Gon hair thing, with only a small portion of it in a pony tail and the rest hanging free.

That's awesome...I'm afraid that when my hair grows out, its rather curly- entirely too girly for the likes of me so I keep it cut real short.

I got rather long hair myself, thankfully my hairs straight and looks rather vikingish when it's long. I got people ask me if I'm Norwegian all the time because of my appearance. I guess I am a viking descendant if you go back far enough. Too bad I plan to cut it soon.
