Hello all!
« on: 2010-11-09, 02:57:37 »
Well, as some of the more prominent members of this forum have noticed, Ive been rearing my little head in the other sections of the forum of late.
So I figured a formal introduction was quite due.
Hello, I am SirNathanQ, and am pleased to finally find a forum dedicated to the expressing of Chivalry. I think this is exactly what I have been needing of late.  You can also count on me tracking down Sir Ed and Sir Brian at the MDRF again next year, and hopefully more than once                                 (bloody soccer schedule  >:( :( ???)

Welcome to the boards. By the way, I like your pic, that's a really nice kit you've got there. It's not something I commonly see, which makes it all the better in my opinion.

Hail and well met Sir Nathan! Glad you made your way onto the forum and it was great to meet you in person at MDRF. I appreciate you letting me poke and prod your MT pair of plates, well your friend allowed me to since you had loaned the plates to him that day! ;)

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, before you walked over and talked to us at MDRF we were already admiring your jack chains. You see so few people doing that at the faire, we were really impressed. :)

It wasn't until this year that I knew what those were actually for...thought they were auto-related when I first heard of'm.  Jack chains, seriously.  LOL

But I do like the look of'm, was admiring the jack in the Hanwei catalog that has the leather ties for jack chains.  Been debating did I want to go as a man-at-arms or knight for next year...yea, I'm already on it.

Yep! I'm from the panhandle! Berkeley Springs, Morgan county. Tiny little place.
Hhmmm, sir wolf, if I may take a guess, are you on MyArmoury? Chuck Russel perhaps?
And thank you for your kind comments regarding my kit, it took a lot of effort to finally get a kit that resembles something from history.
And the goal was a swiss mercenary from the 1470s.  I wanted it to look not like plain vanilla knight, but something still heavily armed.   :)
And yeah, the jack chains are a great piece. I really wanted to represent a number of rare (but things that historically were common) things that are ridiculously under-represented. I'm glad that I actually managed to impress a guy in such an awesome kit, you see so few people doing riveted Flat-ring chausses at the faire (or even at reenactments!) also  ;)
And Paladin, I'm sure that we'll catch each other at the faire, and I certainly hope that we do.  And I would recommend the jack, it works as a stand-alone piece, under a cuirass, ties jacks, and possibly most useful of all, has SOO many points for the attachment of arm harnesses and pauldrons!
Sir Brian, the pleasure was mine. Ahh, it's so good to meet in person people (and especially in groups!  :D) who share a passion for arms and armour and all things chivalrous! And Ill tell my friend (who also happens to be named Brian) you appreciated it! And No problem, always happy to help out a fellow enthusiast! Especially when It might lead to someone commissioning another order form Allan, who I'm sure needs all the business we can give him!  ;)
