Luckily German shares in many things in common with English. I eventually wish to learn Latin and French, and get to learn more English terms. I don't care about Italian lol.

Italian didn't exist in the Middle Ages

Exactly

Of course it did; do you think the people in that region did not speak at all?  ;)

It wasn't referred to as 'Italian' because there was no 'Italy' as we know it now; they were 'city-states' such as Genoa, Pisa, Venezia, etc- but they all spoke the same language with varying dialects depending on which one they hailed from.

You know... Now that you mention it I feel a little dumb haha. I usually just thought there was only Latin. But that I think about it, it obviously must have existed for it to have exist now. Still, I don't feel like learning Italian haha. Maybe just how to pronounce it so I sound intelligent when ordering my food at Olive Garden ;)

Italian is a very difficult language. In order to properly speak it, you also have to learn how to talk with your hands. ;) Of course, the more Italian you are, the more instinctive it is.
