Dyeing linen
« on: 2008-03-11, 15:54:48 »

So I spotted the thread over on SFI started by one of our very own: http://forums.swordforum.com/showthread.php?t=87534 ...  :) ... and it has me thinking about dyeing the padded cuisses. I liked the idea of "painting" on the dye, but I don't know what will look best. It has the same issue with the gambesons in that it's thick and I really don't want to soak it. Also, I'm concerned about dye coming off onto the other garments.

I bought a bottle of RIT dye (yeah, I know, the sh** dye), and they recommend adding salt to the mix when using it with linen. But others have mentioned that linen is hard to dye permanently.

Anyone here have any experience with it?
