It is all in the mind...if you believe in something enough, it may come to pass.  At the risk of sounding like something out of a comic book, I fully believe we will eventually evolve into something extra...like being able to augment your strength for a short period of time or what have you.  Imagine having full control of your adrenal glands, and you could trigger a dump at a given time- something like Gawaine waxing strong between the hours of nine and noon, no?
