"It wasn't the reward that mattered or the recognition you might harvest. It was your depth of commitment, your quality of service, the product of your devotion -- these were the things that counted in a life. When you gave purely, the honor came in the giving, and that was honor enough."

Hail and well met to all here!

I thought I would post an invitation to all who post here as I feel, although I havn't met most of you except Bill G., and of course Sir Christian.  July 18th weekend I'm hosting a get together on my property.  It is an informal gathering called "Bonfire of the Fencer".  Normally I would be having Chivalric Weekend (a 2 day seminar weekend) but I decided to alternate with WMAW each summer.

Bonfire was Christian's idea as a weekend hangout of socializing and giving certain a chance instructors to show what they have been studying in WMA such as Jason Smith's french poleaxe.

Anywho...Ed and the Mrs are going to try to make it.  Camping is welcomed. We will be barbequing on the grills. Bonfires at night.

On Sunday we are all going to the Sterling Renn Faire (20 min from my house).

So if you would like to come you are more than welcomed.

I'm looking forward to it! I'm trying to decide what toys to bring without overloading the truck like we do for Pennsic (BTW, we don't do Pennsic every year, and this is a year off for us). :)

I am looking forward very much to meeting you.  For Sterling maybe I will wear burlap shorts and a torn up tunic, then cover myself in mud and be your manservent by announcing your presence everywhere we go.  "Make way for my Lord Toton!".  Then again...Christian may get jealous.  You can throw me a piece from a turkey leg and I will exclaim "My Lord...how kind sir...you make me weep sir".

O.k., I really need to get off my laptop and do some yard work.

It sounds like a really good time.  I'll have to experience the weekend vicariously through Ed's reports when he returns.  I'm saving all my time off so that I can go to WMAW (relatively) guilt free.  :)

lol! That's quite the image! :) I suppose Christian and I could share our peasant. I suppose. :)

No really, all I would need is someone to use the coconut shells so I can hop along, like in The Holy Grail. I usually have them with me. :)

And at the end of the day you could add little paper umbrellas and make pina coladas.

Well, if they're anything like Sir Robin's minstrels, they might very well deserve it! :)

Well, if they're anything like Sir Robin's minstrels, they might very well deserve it! :)

Bravely bold Sir Robin
Rode forth from Camelot.
He was not afraid to die,
Oh brave Sir Robin.
He was not at all afraid
To be killed in nasty ways.
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin.

He was not in the least bit scared
To be mashed into a pulp.
Or to have his eyes gouged out,
And his elbows broken.
To have his kneecaps split
And his body burned away,
And his limbs all hacked and mangled
Brave Sir Robin.

His head smashed in
And his heart cut out
And his liver removed
And his bowls unplugged
And his nostrils raped
And his bottom burnt off
And his pen--

"That's... that's enough music for now lads,
*** there's dirty work afoot*** ???."

Brave Sir Robin ran away.
("No!")
Bravely ran away away.
("I didn't!")
When danger reared it's ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
("no!")
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
("I didn't!")
And gallantly he chickened out.

****Bravely**** taking ("I never did!") to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat.
("all lies!")
Bravest of the braaaave, Sir Robin!
("I never!")
