Man, I need to grab a copy of the whole dang website. I wonder if someone makes a book copy of the whole thing. That would be really slick.

Awesome! Don't worry, I won't bid against you. :) I'm tempted to get one new, though it's pretty expensive. Then again, high quality oversize books of period art can be worth it. In Service of the Duke, from Christian Tobler, was even more expensive and well worth it. I'll have to think about my options. :)

Heh, nah I already decided just to get a new one. It's enough of a nice collectible period artwork that I figured it was worth having one in good condition.

We've always been good at spending each other's money, eh? :)

My copy got here. And WOW. It's a really nicely bound oversize book, on thick archival stock (like twice as thick as the pages from In Service to the Duke). It really captures the detail of the artwork.

One thing I love in the artwork is that it shows someone taking off the hauberk, and leaning forward in that same undignified pose to use gravity to help that I do... (vindicated!!)

Nope, the text says he removes the hauberk with the sword and helm already on the ground. It's the same guy depicted over on the right side of the image. A lot of the imagery in the book features the same person two or three times in one image as a sort of "animation" to tell the story.

Hmmm... I'm tempted to pick up one of these books. Its outside of my time period of interest, but I still love this stuff.

Yeah, I think the book is totally worth it. Of course, I find the 12th and 13th centuries fascinating. The whole crusades era.

I forgot that the image I posted above was from the David vs Goliath story. Here are the images immediately before and after it, depicting him getting armed up and then choosing to remove it afterall, and then fighting and defeating Goliath:

I ended up buying one of the used ones off of Amazon, and just got it yesterday. The seller put it in a gigantic box with ridiculous amounts of cellophane and foam packing. I thought the box had my new plate legs, from the size of it. I kid you not.

The book is fantastic. Thanks for the heads up on this, Wolf! I've seen the images online, but having a book in hand that I can flip through, especially one this big, and with the full text is great.
