Hello all
« on: 2015-11-10, 14:15:55 »
Hi, I'm Jonathan. I've been lurking around here for the past week or so and finally decided to join up. I'm a member at myArmoury.com (where I found out about this site), and I've had some experience with living history as a one time member of LaBelle Compagnie from a few years ago. Lately though, I've been feeling the itch to get my feet wet again, especially now that my son is old enough to participate. Of course, I have hardly any kit any more, so it will be an upward battle, but "Victory needs no explanation; Defeat allows none."

Welcome Jon!  I'm envious of your previous involvement with LaBelle (not very knightly, I know  ;) ).  I purchased 1381: The Peel Affinity years ago and I still find myself thumbing through it on a weekly basis.

I am in that book on page 157. Unfortunately, the kit was not mine. I hadn't joined LaBelle when most of the photography was done, but they had a few shots that they needed to get, and they thought a fresh face might be useful.

Edit to add: I attached a photo that was not used in the book.

Welcome to the site; I had the pleasure of meeting some of LBC at MTT some years back.  A very impressive encampment they had.

Yes, they are a good bunch of people. I have been thinking about getting back with LaBelle, now that my son is old enough to enjoy participating; he'll be eight in December.

That's a great age!  My son was 8 when he attended his first week long SCA event.  They're old enough to be curious about armour and history, yet not too old to hang out with the old man.   ;)
