Unscrupulous...
« on: 2015-11-04, 23:31:38 »
So some Indian manufacturer had a listing on ebay for a 'brand new' armor for sale, naturally with all the typical tags "SCA, Medieval, Gothic, LARP, Antique!"  It's since been taken down due to an 'error' in the listing, but they were trying to rip people off.  The images for the armor they were selling were of the Toby Capwell blackened / gilded harness.  What idiots these guys are...  I suppose the error was outright fraud, haha...

You can see what's left of the listing here.  You can also click 'see original listing' from there to get a good laugh.

Dang, that sucks. I mean, that was a pretty decent price for a full harness like that, and they had 10 of them. TEN, guys! We could have outfitted all of the knights in the Order and SCA-LARPed in antique fashion at the next event. ;)

I'm sure they had no idea that this is one of the photographed (and lusted after) modern armours made by one of the best known makers for one of the best known experts in the field of medieval armour.

Dumb, dumber and dumberer.

Yeah, I mean at least pick a photo of something other than what is arguably the most recognizable and well known reproduction harness ever made when trying to rip off the one group of people likely to recognize it.

As soon as I saw that harness I recognized it as Capwell's black super-drool-worthy harness.  I'm not at all surprised by this; saw they ended the listing too due to 'an error'.  Heh.
