almost there. have to touch up some of the grey tonight and then spray it with sealer. its been a fun project.  the color is more crimson like the flash picture. dunno why it looks orange without the flash

Without the flash, you're getting the poor color of indoor lighting (incandescent is very yellow, for instance, it's just that your eyes/brain adjust for it and the camera does not). You either need to set the white-balance on the camera first or adjust it later in photoshop or something.

Looking great!

The mantle should be your primary color and metal. The torse is suppose to be the primary color & metal
of your lady but since you have two colors and the same metal you can get away with using the other
combination of color/metal  for your torse.

i.e. Have a mantle in Red/White and a torse in Black/White. Or Have a mantle in Black/White and a torse in
Red/White. You could also go with the mantle having the same color/metal combination as your surcoat and
have the other combination as your torse.

The mantel I made is a simple approximately 1' by 2' piece of cloth of each color and sewn them together.
The torse can be simple or tricky depending on how you want to go about it. If you want to use roping
like Sir Edwards than you need to find the thickness and colors that you will be happy with. If you want
to make them like mine you need to make two tubes of fabric approximately 32" - 40" then turn them outside
in after sewing and fill them with rope batting, which comes in various thicknesses. Tie off the ends and twist
them together.

VOILA you are done!  :)

the mantle is done.  just need to hand sew the sides back so they don't flap in my face.  The torse is half way done. The mantle is black and grey and the torse is black and red.

The mantle looks great!

I'm a little puzzled by the grey though. Is that suppose to be a metal or color?

grey is a metal. grey and white can replace each other.  its a little dark but it's all I had.  when I order some linen to replace my black surcoat I'll get some grey linen (this is lite wool) and redo my mantle

list making for myself to do yet:

gotta put a liner in my helmet DONE. made a cheapie one for now, will do a proper one later. at least the helm won't sit on my shoulders like last year.
make a mantle DONE. Mantle and Torse are finished.
make new surcoat maybe next year
clean hauberk DONE. Not perfect but its as good as I can get it
add mittens Ordered
first order the mittens you dummy See above
paint shield DONE.
take leather knees off padded chausis DONE.
add point holes to chausis DONE.
clean up soup can knees and add point holes DONE.
fix greaves.

also

Add mail to cover calves, attached to padded chausis DONE.

so all I've really got to do is make some greaves if I can and attach the mittens to the hauberk when they come. :)  Not too bad for a week without the wife and kids.

AH-HA! Now I know why you suddenly had all this free time to work on your projects!

It also helps to keep your mind off missing them!  ;)
