Same here, I find some the techniques to  be a combination some longsword techniques applied to the Great Weapons along with some Poleaxe techniques.

Agreed. Positional striking is very advantageous if you know how to close in or make good use of the gap in distance with your opponent. I use a lot of small circle baton techniques in close that work well if you have enough room and leave nothing for them to counter with. Proper positioning is better than closing a distance to gain a perceived advantage.

Interesting videos. It is neat to see how some other people fight; I would have approached the situations differently.
Also I do not know if it is just me but the last video is broken.
