IIRC there are many states where, if you are a visitor with a CCW from another state, you can concealed carry there too, or at least the cops won't hassle you so bad.

I believe NV is one of them.

"Senator Feinstein. You are trying to get handguns banned in California yet we have found out that you are also one of the few people in the state with a permit for a concealed weapon. If your trying to get rid of handguns then why do you have this permit?"

"To protect me from the gun nuts of course!"

Maybe that is their way of saying...work for the MDRF as "staff" (Sir Edward & Sir Brian) and then not worry about carrying your weapons.

Staff can't carry either. They banned that several years ago.

Several years ago?  I haven't been to it this year, but I seem to recall a staffer/guardsman who had a sword on his belt.  When I asked him about it he said it was because he worked there.

I think we need a new Faire for the likes of us.

Certain cast members can have weapons as part of their role, such as the Landesknecht guards. Boothies and other general staff are forbidden.

Well I'm open to 'partners' in a 'joint venture' of my 'medieval faire' business idea. ;) Of course, I had New England area in mind for it. This was a future thing I wanted to do but if it were possible to do it sooner, I say the better. My theme idea appeals particularly to the likes of Templars. ;)

Really?? I have pictures from MDRF with their employees/staff carrying in costume/character that day I was there. And the hypocrisy continues.......  :o

As I said in a follow-up, some cast members carry a weapon as part of their role, but it's forbidden for the rest of the staff and boothies.

Yes I recall but I want to make an argument for the contradictions of the owners. :) You're not making this easy. :)

lol, sorry about that. :)

I agree, there's plenty of hypocrisy. They have booths on site that sell swords, including wooden toys, however they turn away kids at the gate who want to come in with the wooden toys they bought there previously.

And while they can require customers to take steel swords straight to their car when they buy them there, they can't stop kids from walking around all day with the toy swords they just bought, otherwise it would kill the business for toy swords.

And kids swinging wooden swords around have ALWAYS been a greater source of danger than costumed patrons.

I think he is. Admit it, Sir Edward. You hit Sir Brian one day when you were wielding wooden toys in the playground & you wanted to reminisce ever since.  ;D Hence, began your medieval rampage into adolescence & eventual adulthood obsession with long metal things. I knew it!!!! :) Time for payback, Sir Brian. Childhood mishaps cannot go unpunished after all.

Certainly sounds like a grand idea, Lord Dane, if for no other reason than that we'd have a place to call our 'medieval home', right?  Templar themed...if I didn't know any better I'd think you were courting me, Sir!  ;)

I have always said that if I hit the big lottery, we'll have that- land, a small castle, smaller homesteads for you knights and your families...I'd want the whole shebang.  Hey, its my dream, I'm allowed!

Mostly observation, however I WAS one of those kids that sword-fought with other kids with the wooden swords while at the renfaire, yes. :) I learned at an early age that a longsword was a good thing. :)

Hmmmm, I learned that a 'longsword' was a good thing when I began seducing... *ahem* I mean courting fair maidens. ;) LOL
