Excellent find! I'll have to remember these when I put my gauntlets on order!

So my gloves should be here tomorrow, and I got my gauntlets yesterday! Anyone have a good guide on how to pad/attach said gloves to gauntlets? I've never had to do this myself before, but it's about time I learned..

As far as I know 'padding' is an SCA thing in gauntlets and is not historical. So, depending on your intended use, you can just skip padding. Here are closeups of my hourglass gauntlet/glove attachment stitches. Wisby and hourglass gauntlets should be very similar in glove attachment since the fingers are of similar construction. Strips of leather are riveted to the inside of each finger, and then the glove is sewn on both sides of the finger along the edges of the top half of each digit. Then a smaller piece of leather is attached at the back of the metacarpal area as seen below. If you wanted to add inconspicuous 'padding' of sorts, some people insert layers of felt in between the leather and glove along the fingers:

IIRC padding has been found in some gauntlets (felted wool mostly) going back a long ways. I know I wouldn't want to go to battle without a little insurance.
Damn those are sexy.
