Which reminds me.. a question for anyone who has sewn their own gloves to their gauntlets, any suggestions on what type of thread to use?

Artificial sinew or waxen linen.

Either of these will work ( regular thread is not up to the job ) but they are both a little " slippery " especially the waxed twine. I've found that the knots can occasionally work them selves loose( I cut my thread close atto the knot so theres not a long tail of thread ).  A little dot of super glue on your knots will keep them closed perfectly.

Thanks for the superglue tip Allan, I'll have to remember that one!

They certainly are Ian, he sent over some more progress pics, he just has the fingers left to finish up-

Whats been found to be the best padding for the fingers? I've heard good things about sorbothane, mouse pad, & felted wool but hardly much about hardly else.

Ian- Thanks! I can't wait to get them  :D

Sir Brian- Not sure now, the gloves I was going to pick up are apparently a discontinued item now, so I need to find something else. Any suggestions?

I love the studded leather work around the wrist. Looks like you extended the cuff for better protection.

Lord Dane, they're splinted, not studded! Earlier shot showing the splints here-

Well doeskin will not only be very comfortable it is also very resilient.

This link has both lined and unlined gauntlets at a nice price.  :)

I found something similar to the ones I was going to get while I was at home this morning, so I ordered them. They're the deerskin gauntlets on this page-
