FS: Merc's Tailor demi-gaunts
« on: 2012-04-15, 03:08:54 »

Since I ended up upgrading to the full finger-gaunt version of these shortly after getting them, these have just sat here unused. They're in like-new condition. They have fairly heavy gloves in them, so the fingers aren't completely unprotected. Make me an offer?

Instead of selling them why not ask Allan how much to convert them to full gauntlets?

The thing is, I already have the full gaunts. :)

It's always an option for the next owner too. ;) If I hadn't already ordered a set that's still in the queue, I'd jump at these.

I'm actually a little envious of how clean and new and shiny they are. My full gaunts are all covered in rust, even after cleaning and oiling them. I think they re-rusted right into the oil! I must not have gotten all the moisture out, or something.

Those had a nice feel and fit to them, Sir Edward.

If you don't have any plate gauntlets to go along with the plate arms and legs..... ;)

It probably wouldn't be too hard to convert these to fingered gauntlets.

Anyway, let me know if any of you guys are interested, otherwise I may be able to find another buyer on the weekend, a little birdie told me. :)

Would these be period for 14thC, or are they square in the 15th?

They really look 15th to me, with the long pointed cuff. A demi-gaunt in the 14th would probably be more of the hourglass shape and not as articulated.

to be honest they are more 16thc articulation etc. 15th are sharper cuffs and less articulations.

Hm.  I'm not yet interested in the 15th- 16th yet...if only because I'm not yet finished with the 13th.  My budget is 13th - oriented.  lol

Sir William, put your mind at ease; these were sold, so you needn't torment yourself with the 15th/16th century gear any longer ... at least not right now. I'll try to bring you to the dark side later. :D
