« on: 2012-02-17, 04:24:39 »
So Wicked Faire is tomorrow, I will be going there on saturday as well as sunday with my brother and a few friends. Is anyone here gonna be there too? It's not exactly a ren faire but there are medieval reenactors there.

I went a couple of years ago. It was different, but we had fun. I didn't do armor as it seemed more geared towards Steampunk and other genres.  ???

First I've heard of this, where's it located?

New Jersery for the one I went to a couple of years ago. I'm not sure if it is at the same area this year though.  :-\

It probably is, since Ulrich lives in Jersey.  Unfortunately, I have other plans for this weekend, nothing fun of course.  :(

It's in jersey and takes place in a hotel and is totally indoors. Yeah I went there with one friend on Saturday and a few friends on Sunday. Wasnt as enjoyable as the first time around, the swordsmanship class wasnt there that time round and there was too much steampunk stuff and whatnot and it felt more like a goth convention than it did a Medieval Faire. Did enjoy myself but not as much as the first time around. I'm already kinda gothic but not really as it's just how I dress not how I act.

Yeah, give us a rundown, what is Wicked Faire?

Basically an indoor medieval faire with tons of steampunk goth and BDSM elements to it. Has performers and whatnot and there was a band playing there and it was very cool IMO. For someone like me it was good, did lack the medieval element this year though, way too much steampunk stuff at it this time and I dont care for steampunk that much. Still think wicked faire 2011 was better than wicked faire 2012.

Heres the site to it: http://wickedfaire.com/

I think steampunk is pretty cool, though I only see little bits of it at the SciFi cons. Not really into the whole Goth and BDSM leather scene, personally. :)

I'm much more keen on the idea of Pennsic, typical renfaires, and so on. But that's me.

Yeah, Speampunk is neat. It's not my thing, but it looks pretty cool. (Although the Dwarven Centurions in Skyrim did their best to make me hate and fear anything made out of brass gears... :P  )

Yeah, I'm much more tradtional renn faire oriented, but it sounds neat enough. So were there like NO medieval guys, or what?

There were all sorts of people there, cosplayers, medieval people, goths, steampunks, crossdressers, emos, anime geeks, furries, vampire freaks, BDSM people, and maybe others I havent seen before. Was interesting and I was the odd one out dressing medieval but dark medieval, and my friend dressed like a resistance fighter Kyle Reese ripoff from terminator.

I can't think of anything where you'd find a more diverse but eccentric group of people.

Well, I think BDSM is cool too, but definitely not my thing.  Heh.

Sounds sort of like the DragonCon I've been hearing about...down south I believe?
