Carolina Ren Faire
« on: 2011-10-11, 00:55:58 »
I am planning to go to CRF this season Nov. 12 and 13, is anyone else from the boards planning on attending that weekend? I have never been to CRF and am very much looking forward to it, seeing some of my brothers from the boards there would make it even more special.

I'll be there that same weekend! CRF is Sir Andrew's home faire. It will be a great weekend as I'm hearing a lot of folks we know from MDRF will be going down that same weekend. :)

That's my wife's birthday weekend, and should I attend NCRF that weekend, it would surely be the last thing I ever attend. :/

Have fun and take pictures!

Yeah that’s my typical game plan weather permitting to go armor only for one day and play more the next!  :)

Yes that would probably be prudent! ;)

Where's this one located?

It is about 15 miles north of Charlotte, NC.  :)

Ah, ok...I remember you mentioning this before.  Wasn't sure if it was that one or the NCRF (Raleigh, right?).

Yes. The NCRF (in Raleigh) is pretty much a dead faire. I heard rumors that they are planning to open again next spring but I don't see how since this season was absolutely pathetic for them.  ;)

When is the NCRF? I've thought of going, but I seem to recall having a scheduling conflict.

NCRF is a spring faire, and typically only runs for one or two weekends. It's been failing for years, and the last time around they had severe financial problems and even did a few unethical things (some of which may have been unintentional, but we're not sure).

CRF on the other hand is a fall faire, has a permanent site, runs for a more normal duration, and is actually a pretty nice little faire.

Sir Brian, where are you planning to stay for the weekend? We're staying at the Microtell Inn in Cornelias. My wife and I are coming down Fri. and heading back Mon.

Heh, well my travel/financial director hasn't made reservations as yet but she'll probably make them today. We also plan to travel down Friday and return Monday! We plan on taking Sir Andrew out to dinner Friday night, perhaps we could all rendezvous at whichever restaurant is chosen? My cell phone number is listed in the order discussion section of the forum. ;)

I think we've stayed at that particular hotel once or twice. I don't recommend the holiday inn in statesville though as it wasn't very clean.  :-\

Friday night we are having dinner with the M'Cracks. Maybe Sat. though. My brother and his wife are joining us Sat. at faire and then we were all planning on going for dinner after. We can discuss Sat. when we see each other.

It was very nice to see Sir Brian and Sir Andrew with their respective wives this weekend at CRF. My wife and I had a most enjoyable trip to that faire and intend to return next year: wheather, schedule, and finances permitting.

Yes Sir Matthew it was excellent seeing you and your lovely lady! We had such a great time and it meant all that much more to us since we had to miss last year due to my love's unexpected medical emergency. The weather was very cooperative for those of us with a fondness of wearing metal.  ;)
