That's a really good idea. I have some of the cheaper scissor-action hangars. They're OK, but I think to make them secure you have to anchor them to the wall and not just use a nail.

I'll have to come up with some names at some point. For now, my swords just bear the names given to them by Albion and A&A.

Sylvanus...nicely done, Sir.  I need to hang some of mine...just haven't figured out where or how.  I have some of those fancy fleur-de-lis hangers but I'm not certain that's the imagery I want to evoke.  I have time though...still need other furnishings first.

After much thought... I have decided upon a proper name for this worthless waster of mine. It shall be known as "Excrement" from the proper Latin for "piece of ****!!!"  :-\
"Fides, Honos, Prudentia, Sapiencia" (Faith, Honor, Prudence, Wisdom)

Silvanus, don't worry about offending anyone here with religious significance. My sword's name is a reference to a sword flying from God's mouth and beating down he wicked nations of the earth and/or splitting marrow from the bone.

It's very meieval, and cool for a Crusader persona. Good choice.  :)

Never feel like you must apologize for religious zeal, Sirs Silvanus and Nathan. Especially if it is a reflective part of who you are, your words you speak, and the actions you take. Apologizing for an offense if taken in such a way is only polite if offense was unintended. People should know the difference in a contextual sense. They will make it known if offense was given. Honesty & respect for others is already assumed in your mannerism by those who understand you, and all on this site understand you!! :) :)

Proof of Auge Beißer lives!  ;D

I had a few moments of panic when I tried it in the scabbard and it stopped about 1.5 inches from fully seating in the scabbard!  :o
I then had a second panic attack when I was steadily pushing the blade further into the scabbard and I heard a heart-stopping *CRACK*!! :o
I pulled the blade free and inspected the scabbard and there wasn't any visible crack through the leather covering and reasoned that the tightness of the leather covering and the long time the scabbard laid around without a blade it had become a bit more constricted so I worked with it and now it sheaths all the way in but it is still a bit snug. I'll have to work it some more and then maybe add some more gun oil to the blade...now all you guys can get your minds out of the gutter!  ;)

Last two pictures...:)

Note the shade of green on the grip is nearly a perfect match of the scabbard's green! :)

Wow, fantastic!

Just don't get too enthusiastic about that lubricated working of the blade there... :)

It's possible you got a really small split in the wood or in the seam that will be held together by the leather and not cause a problem. I wouldn't worry too much if you can't find anything obvious.

Wow, he really did a great job with the scabbard- loving the griffin!  I'm with Sir Edward, most likely a seam got separated- if you push the blade in til you get to that point, put your finger around that area and look and feel for any movement under the leather near the point of the scabbard, you might then catch it, so to speak.  I can't tell if you have a metal or leather chape- if its leather, you'll have a better chance of feeling that separation but either way, you should be good.  The chape will keep that section of the scabbard intact.

Well this is late and out of context of the previous discussion.

I penned a new name for my Sword.

"Malta's Hope"

The idea stemmed from me reading the accounts of the Siege of Malta in 1565.  Plus the sword is this:

This is how the name fits with a Middle 16th Century/Renaissance Sword.

I even named my future Square Target in which I call it:

"Vienna's Refuge"  once again inspired from the Siege of Vienna in 1510.

Knight of The Lion Blade
