Sharpness of various swords
« on: 2014-06-30, 13:08:53 »

Matt Easton did a great video talking about the sharpness of various kinds of swords:

In our local sword-fighting demos, when we get to the disarm that involves grabbing the other guy's blade, I've been wording it that it was only "highly sharp" or "ultra sharp" in the last half or so of the blade. After seeing this, I think I'm going to reword that in the future, to emphasize that the entire longsword is usually sharpened, just perhaps with differential sharpening here.

Watching the video made my "historical spidey sense" tingle.
