My new Callote helm
« on: 2015-03-25, 18:12:13 »

This thing only cost me 85 bucks and the shipping was 10 dollars all the way from Germany. This is for my new revamped 12th century kit I've been working on trying to get the earlier medieval era look going on. Wish it had a nasal but i'm getting a faceguard one from Doug once he works on it that will be for later 12th century crusades.

Nice acquisition, Ulrich.  Especially at that price and from so far away!

I got it from Battlemerchant which is a really good site to get some rather good quality stuff. Better than GDFB for sure. Got my tie in the back chausses from them as well.

I did look for iconic evidence of helms like this, all I found was that "Murder of Thomas Becket" one and a bunch of Italian ones. They dont seem common at all in mainland europe and are mainly a crusader thing. Just like surcoats were not that common in 12th century europe, mostly common in the crusader states.
