Ah but Sir William THAT is the very reason why I love the transitional period of armor for the wide variance you are afforded with your kit!  ;)

You are absolutely right and I'm glad you said it...I just need to remember that a Templar would not be armored so (stick with just the maille) and I'll be good.  That'll work...and I'll be going with a transitional look for a new jupon I've been waiting to put on.

What I don't get is why the knight here in this 1250 illustration has plate greaves:

That is very strange.  Dr. Douglas Strong's research of 1,300 effigies suggests that schynbalds don't start appearing until the 1300-1309 decade.

An Analysis of 1300 Effigies Dated Between 1300 and 1450

Edit:  It appears there is one effigy in the period 1300-1309 that shows "a comprehensive leg harness including a cuisses, knees, greaves and sabatons all worn without articulated joints between the elements."

English Medieval Knight 1200-1300, I do know by 1250 they were using coat of plates over maille (or was it integrated into the gambeson?) and by 1290 they had knee protection.

Those books are basically where I get my ideas for my kits and whatnot, along with the Morgan Bible. I just wanna know where I could get the mace thats marked with the number 14 in that pic. Been looking everywhere but cant find one. Better off learning how to make one out of rubber to use as a training weapon.

Isn't there an Australian guy doing castings of mace heads?

He can be found on the AA somewhere I think.

It just occurred to me that IF Sir Edward and his Lady Katherine ever decided to run a day care center they might have a little trouble getting past the home safety inspection for their certification!   :D

I believe Sir Edward and his Lady would probably prefer to move than try to kidproof that house.  LOL

It's the "less" common generally Italian style mace, flanged, specifically.

That one has some decorative punch-out in it, but looks very similar. It should at least lead you in the right direction by having a more specific name/style.
