MDRF staying in Crownsville?
« on: 2010-04-11, 08:57:29 »
A friend of Rosemary's and I posted on facebook that the Bee People from the MDRF posted on their facebook page about a
letter they had received from the MDRF management concerning the land lease for the MDRF which stated in part...

"We have been able to secure a lease for all the property we now lease to continue to operate beyond the current lease which expires at the end of 2012."

So that is good news we don't have to worry about the fair moving! :)

Cool! That sounds much more reliable than some of the previous rumors that floated around.

I wonder what they're going to do about expanding though. They're out of parking area as it is.

I hope to see you knights there.

I've been away for several months, but am now in my basement working on modifying my kit as I write this. A new, laced suspension system for my scabbards, more historically accurate than what I had been using for my time period, c. 1150 - 1200. I am very proud of them! :) And a new method of holding up my chausses - always a challenge, though not a very glamorous topic. A new gambeson. And (hopefully) buying a flat riveted coif to match the hauberk. This last effort will have to be kept secret from my wife....

Cheers all.

Silvanus!

Long time no read!  :D

Glad to see you back and it sounds like you've been very busy indeed! Can't wait to see the improvements to your harness this year at MDRF!  :)

I had no idea they might be moving...they're not going to go away totally, are they?

No, the owners of the land that they rent to use for parking (I think that's what it was) started playing hardball when it was time to renegotiate the terms of the lease. So the faire started investigating other options. As far as I know, it all got settled.
