If I ever make it out to St. Louis, I'll have to check'm out.  They're Hospitaliers too...

STL Ren faire is my home faire, and I've seen these guys in action a few times.  Very cool, well choreographed, and fast!  I would looove to join them, but my screwy work schedule would make that kind of commitment impossible :(.

Man, I'd love just to do it a few times...I say I'm too old for anything overly organized that requires significant chunks of time, but that just looks like it'd be a blast!

I shouldn't say they require huge chunks of time, it's just the days they meet, and the days they perform absolutely don't work for me (I cannot stress how much I hate working Saturdays!!).  At the faire, they usually have an encampment where they have living history going on, and then they do live steel demonstrations throughout the day.  Very educational and very entertaining.

If you do, Red Knight, then my condolences to you good sir!

Maybe I should join, but my outfit is a Templar knight outfit, could easily just order myself a Hospitaller surcoat and work it from there.

You'll have to move to Missouri.  Of course, then you could borrow my shield press!

Would I HAVE to move to Missouri in order to use your shield press, Red Knight?  lol

Conall do it...I've been flirting with the idea of doing a Hospitalier as well since I've yet to see one out...plenty of Crusaders and Templars but I've not seen a Hospitalier.  Yet.

GDFB sells one that looks really nice, but if its all wool forget it.  I got their Templar stuff last winter and it was unbelievably thick and heavy!  Great for winter wars I guess...but definitely not for me.

I've seen Hospitallers out at the renfaires from time to time. They're definitely few and far between compared to Templars. The Teutonic knights are also infrequent from what I've seen.

I think the Highland Anvil shop at MDRF (tiny little shop, easy to miss, and the only plate armorer on site, though rarely with armor for sale since it typically sells as soon as he puts it out) has some Hospitaller surcoats for sale. They might be the GDFB ones, I didn't look closely enough to see.

Hmm...well Sir Brian was the first Teuton I've seen and I can't recall seeing any Hospitaliers previously but it could just be that they weren't there when I was.  I think I'm slowly outgrowing my Crusader self and moving further toward the future, so to speak.  I'm not at the point where I'm researching my coat of arms for crafting a suitable surcoat, banner and shield...but I'm getting there, I think.

Nah!  I'll just ship it to you.  You want same day air, right? ;)
